The Community Food Collaborative (CFC) is a multi-sector partnership working to address hunger among vulnerable and unsheltered populations in Santa Barbara in response to COVID-19 while also supporting small food enterprises and restaurant workers that are part of the critical underpinning of our local food system.

Funds donated to the Community Food Collaborative will be used to:

  1. Purchase local products, groceries, and Farmers’ Market tokens to supplement prepared meals that will be distributed to our neighbors without homes by partner organizations and volunteers

  2. Retain recently laid off or unemployed chefs through Acme Hospitality and facilitate food purchasing from local farmers and fisheries for meal preparation

  3. Contract recently laid off or unemployed restaurant workers to assist with food distribution

Partners from New Beginnings Counseling Center, City Net, Family Service Agency and Doctors Without Walls - Santa Barbara Street Medicine will then distribute meals and non-perishable goods at various times throughout the week to:

  • Clients in the Safe Parking Program

  • Clients housed at Johnson Court

  • Clients at Showers of Blessing sites

  • The homeless population residing in encampments and on the streets throughout the City of Santa Barbara

  • Low-income residents on the Westside of Santa Barbara

The Community Food Collaborative is committed to ensuring that the entire local food chain will participate and benefit from this initiative. If additional funds are raised, then we will expand meals to more days a week or to other target populations in Santa Barbara County.

Thank you for your generosity!
