“There is a time for everything,
And a season for every activity under the stars…
A time to weep and a time to laugh,
A time to mourn and a time to dance.”
We’re still not sure how many Westside families we can add to the tutoring program next year.
We don’t yet know if we’ll have enough reading volunteers to fill all the new time slots at Harding School.
We aren’t certain whether all of the community members on our leadership team will be able to continue in the fall, though the majority are planning to remain.
I don’t yet know if I’ll have enough funds raised to expand the amount of hours I’m working to coordinate our Westside team projects for next quarter.
We don’t know when we’ll have a bilingual coordinator who can take over the facilitation of our community member team, their leadership development, and their programs.
But here’s what we do know.
Eight Westside parents partnered with four Santa Barbara churches this year and were able to provide regular one-on-one tutoring for 14 students the 2015-2016 school year that just ended. They teamed up with one elementary school teacher and will be helping to resource that school with 10 volunteers in the coming year. And they want to do more for their community. Of these eight parents, three can speak English fluently. But they are leaders, they are resilient, they are strong together, and God is using them powerfully.
So right now is a time to dance.
